Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations of process and mechanical equipment
Design of piping systems, process and mechanical equipment including design and selection of static and rotating equipment
Deliver mechanical and piping design across multiple sustaining capital projects.
Ensure project time and cost KPI’s are met - monitor effectiveness of designs, scheduling of work, resource requirements and review compliance with project execution plan (schedule) and client expectations.
Oversee layout drafting and 3D modelling through basic and detailed design phases
Produce and monitor engineering work hour budgets during concept, study, tender and detailed design stage as required.
Provide technical support to the team of piping designers for design/basic engineering during construction phases.
Ensure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures; Continuous improvement of design systems used by the organisation.
Develop designs for wet & dry plants, mechanical equipment, process platework and pipework.
Contribute to proposals, scope development, and continuous design improvements.
Project Manager for discipline lead projects as assigned
Undertake or supervise the preparation of feasibility studies, surveys and reports, design layouts, PFD’s, P&ID’s, specifications, bill of quantities, materials lists and cost estimates.
Provide engineering support to the project teams in line with management direction whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation.
Build and maintain client relationships and respond to client requests, travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews as required
Define and recommend design methods, specifications and performance of functional requirements for new projects.
Always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites

Will be a registered engineer with EGBC (P. Engineer in British Colombia); or eligible to register;
Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills; will be self-motivated, quick to deliver on projects
Will have between 5 – 7 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical engineer on mining, energy or heavy industrial projects.
Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities
Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
Will have excellent communication skills, strong, oral, verbal and written English; French is considered an asset.
Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Plant3D; ASME Code knowledge considered an asset.
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (piping design experience is highly desired)
Relevant experience in the design of process piping, preparation of equipment datasheets and specifications; Knowledge of pipe stress analysis considered an asset
