The Project Cost Controller responsibilities focus on the budgetary control system for a Joint Venture Project through the preparation of cost reports, monitoring, analyzing, and demonstrating commitment to budget and forecast. The Project Cost Controller works with the Joint Venture Project team members to maintain accurate, updated information throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify potential project risks and issues, developing strategies for mitigation and contingency planning
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and compliance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze project management and financial processes to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains
- Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, ensuring accurate financial forecasting and reporting.
- Facilitate regular project review meetings, providing data-driven insights to inform decision-making
- Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain deviations from budgeted amounts, recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Implement best practices for project control and reporting, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and transparency regarding project status and financial health
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project progress and success including Labor Performance
- Prepare detailed status reports and executive summaries for JV Partners
- Progress Billing and Change Order Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for project-related financial inquiries and reporting
- Collaborate with the JV Partners to implement risk management practices, ensuring proactive responses to challenges
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate, complete, and readily accessible for audits and reviews

- Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Financial or accounting experience in construction or engineering industry preferred
- Over 3 years of financial/data analysis experience on Infrastructure / Energy Project controlling within multiple Partners
- Must be able to freely access all parts of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
- High level of professionalism and standards
- Strong working knowledge of accounting including: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
- English, and French (not a mandatory)
- Effective communication (both oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of or familiarity with principal field business management systems: D 365, and Procore
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP will be a valuable asset
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or an equivalent degree is require, and CPA, MBA, or public accounting experience preferred
