The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and leads a technician team responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of the fleet, post‑collection facility machinery, and equipment serving the container shop. The role ensures all repairs on trucks (diesel and alternative fuel), containers and heavy‑duty equipment meet company safety standards and federal/state regulations. The supervisor plans and schedules work to maintain safety, productivity and minimize downtime.
Responsibilities include directing A, B and C level technicians, monitoring performance, and reporting results with recommendations for improvements. The supervisor conducts daily shop huddles, fleet walks, coaching, counseling, hiring/termination decisions with HR, and performance evaluations. They also perform inspections of external repairs, oversee quality‑control inspections, manage complex diagnostics, and may road‑test vehicles.
The supervisor maintains the shop inventory control system, approves expenses within authority, and ensures parts and equipment levels stay within budget. Administrative duties cover payroll, employee records, maintenance logs in Dossier Maintenance Software, budget preparation, and setting departmental goals aligned with division objectives.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ASE certifications (T3‑T7, T2 Diesel, T Master), and at least three years of heavy‑equipment maintenance experience plus one year of supervisory experience. The candidate must understand safe work practices, DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
