The Archibus Database Engineer (DBE) will work as part of a team supporting data analysis, management, processing, and automation for a Security & Installations/Infrastructure office within the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). The role translates business and IT requirements into robust Archibus data architectures and leads the front‑end of the lifecycle through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability. The position is also embedded in Guidehouse’s broader AI & Data horizontal team, providing access to a firm‑wide network of data practitioners.
The DBE leads the IWMS team as Technical Program Manager, overseeing service delivery, system maintenance, enhancements, and overall program performance throughout the system lifecycle. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing relational or object‑oriented Archibus databases, managing long‑range requirements, and making trade‑offs among data volume, users, distribution, response times, security, and retention. The engineer also translates requirements into queries, scripts, macros, and ODBC/Cloud solutions, manages project timelines and resources, and ensures database performance, security, and 95 % availability.
Additional duties involve leading the design, development, and integration of Archibus modules, handling data ingestion/extraction, maintaining physical and logical database models, implementing archiving policies, diagnosing and resolving database and software errors, and producing reports and dashboards. The role also manages software and database lifecycles—including upgrades, patches, and version control—publishes CAD/BIM graphics, maintains hardware/software inventory, gathers stakeholder requirements, creates technical specifications, and documents procedures while providing ad‑hoc training.
Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with a CI polygraph (or be able to obtain/maintain one) and bring at least five years of experience as a database engineer. Required skills include advanced SQL programming, expert‑level knowledge of Archibus architecture and data structures, experience integrating Archibus with other enterprise systems, strong web technology proficiency, scripting ability (Python, PowerShell), and demonstrated leadership of complex Archibus projects. Additional expectations are strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, mentoring experience, and familiarity with Archibus‑specific tools and disaster‑recovery planning.
Preferred qualifications include Archibus or equivalent CAFM/IWMS certifications, experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Confluence and Jira, and familiarity with CAD/BIM file modification and GIS‑based platform integration.
