Interns perform entry‑level work using standard techniques, follow senior staff instructions, meet schedules, and produce quality deliverables with limited judgment. They collect data, conduct research, and synthesize information to address challenges for community‑based regional and national clients.
The AECOM Advisory Consulting Internship offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced consulting practice covering economic analysis, urban planning, climate and sustainability, public policy, and data science. Interns work alongside peers, junior staff, and senior managers on projects addressing equitable, sustainable economic development, real‑estate development, climate advisory, and economic diversification.
Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, urban planning, public policy, finance, business, real estate, environmental science, climate and sustainability, or a related field, with at least three years of study completed. Recent graduates who plan to continue with a master’s degree are also eligible.
Preferred qualifications include enrollment in a master’s program in a relevant discipline, experience with quantitative and qualitative analyses, cash‑flow modeling in Excel, critical policy analysis, and strong written communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and technical skills in ArcGIS, statistical software (STATA, R, Python), data visualization, and economic impact modeling tools (RIMS II, IMPLAN, REMI) are valued.

The on‑site position is based in Chicago, IL with an hourly rate of $23‑$26, subject to location and qualifications.
