Description

• Direct day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and sub‑contractors to meet schedule and quality standards.
• Manage project budget for general conditions and site services.
• Develop, document, and communicate field work plans and change orders.
• Review contract documents proactively to anticipate issues.
• Ensure subcontractors obtain all required construction permits.
• Serve as primary safety representative and enforce safety compliance on site.
• Create and drive safety strategies to foster a strong safety culture.
• Plan and maintain workarounds, shutdowns, and tie‑ins.
• Build credibility with owners, trade contractors, unions, and partners through fair practices.
• Resolve jurisdictional disputes with senior leadership support.
• Lead regular contractor coordination meetings.
• Maintain daily reports and documentation using software tools.
• Create, manage, and update the project schedule, implementing contingency plans as needed.
• Communicate schedule status and changes to project team and trades.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage jobsite logistics.
• Develop and oversee the Quality in Construction (QIC) plan with Operations Excellence.
• Manage Next150/Site Services material and crew requirements.
• Train field engineers and superintendents on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen.
• Assist in pre‑construction planning, scope development, and buy‑out processes.
• Administer time‑and‑materials (T&M) tracking.
• Lead daily huddles, stretch‑flex sessions, and pre‑task planning.
• Engage with the local community and cultivate market relationships.
• Collaborate with business development to align project execution with sales strategy and client deliverables.
• Mentor direct reports on processes, procedures, and daily tasks.
• Oversee workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with company standards.
• Promote an inclusive, positive work environment to motivate and retain team members.
• Communicate company and department strategy to direct reports.
• Perform occasional tasks typical of junior positions as needed.

Requirements

Gilbane is seeking an experienced General Superintendent with a strong background in hospitality or hotel construction to lead field operations on high‑profile projects valued up to $100 M. The role offers significant career growth and expects the candidate to own daily on‑site operations while playing a pivotal part on the project team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
• 10‑15 years of experience on $30‑$100 M commercial/industrial projects, serving as lead superintendent.
• OSHA 30‑hour certification.
• STS‑C certification.
• Certified in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed.
• Strong technical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven problem‑solving ability and adaptability to changing needs.
• Experience participating in sales processes, interviews, and presentations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry‑standard construction software.
• Construction document and drawing literacy across all phases.
• Knowledge of all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
• Familiarity with Pull Planning process.
• Deep understanding of construction safety processes and ability to enforce safety plans.
• Demonstrated ability to create a “safety‑first” culture.
• Prior experience supervising project teams.
