This role oversees drivers and helpers and collaborates with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives that drive functional excellence and achieve budget targets, while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, accounting, ethics, and other standards.
Safety leadership is a core focus, requiring the supervisor to communicate safety goals, eliminate unsafe conditions on routes, and partner with sales and maintenance teams to address hazards for new customers and routes. The supervisor oversees accident‑prevention programs, promotes an active safety culture among employees, and ensures equipment remains compliant with safety standards.
In the realm of customer experience, the supervisor provides service that meets or exceeds expectations, manages missed pickup goals, resolves unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes, and maintains timely communication with all stakeholders. Acting as a positive company representative, they interact with customers to address issues and foster loyalty.
Efficiency responsibilities include setting productivity goals, managing labor hours and disposal expenses, leading drivers to exceed performance expectations, and designing or modifying routes to maximize density and reduce hours. The supervisor also supports maintenance and fleet quality initiatives and executes operational plans to meet or exceed the division’s budgeted goals.
Qualified candidates can direct large staff, are both process‑ and results‑oriented, and possess strong problem‑solving, analytical, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making abilities. They are collaborative, creative thinkers who challenge conventional solutions, demonstrate ethical behavior, and have strong leadership skills with a focus on hiring and developing high‑performance teams. A minimum of one year of lead or supervisory experience is required.
The position offers a salary range of $86,400 to $118,800, with an annual incentive target of 10% of base pay.
