  • The International Environmental Specialist will provide a key role in supporting the development of tailor-made deliverables for Sustainable Finance and nature-based solutions.
  • Support the development of the environmental/biodiversity portions of corporate ESG strategies and support clients in implementing their ESG strategy.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Conduct environmental/biodiversity due diligence and monitoring on behalf of development financial institutions for domestic and international development projects (e.g., oil and gas, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable/alternative energy, and mining projects).
  • Prepare the environmental/biodiversity sections of national and international environmental and social impact assessments.
  • Perform project delivery activities such as report writing, undertaking, and organizing data collection, survey fieldwork, performing data and literature review, and developing recommendations for clients.

  • Desire to develop Sustainable Finance skills and basic subject matter expertise as it pertains to Sustainable Finance, Environmental aspects, or Social aspects.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to deliver quality work products.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Bachelors in biology, environmental science, environmental finance, sustainable finance, environmental studies, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Basic understanding of key emerging environmental and/or social-related issues as it relates to international affairs, climate change, natural resources, and/or environmental sustainability.
  • Good understanding of international development and/or environmental policy processes.
  • Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, and service-oriented mentality.
  • Basic understanding of key regulatory environments and regulatory agencies in the United States and internationally
  • Experience in working with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Guiding Principles, or World Bank IFC Performance Standards.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task.
  • 5+ years of consulting experience working on sustainable finance, and ideally in multi-stakeholder processes in developing countries or on projects with a focus on sustainable landscapes.
