• Perform functional and performance testing of naval refrigeration systems.
• Execute electrical hook‑up of refrigeration units, chilled water plants and control systems.
• Carry out mechanical pipe fitting for refrigeration and fluid circuits.
• Conduct noise and vibration testing using calibrated equipment.
• Commission refrigeration and HVAC units in the test facility.
• Ensure compliance with F‑Gas regulations, including leak detection and certification.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues during testing and commissioning.
• Record, analyse and report test data to engineering teams.
• Maintain test equipment and uphold safety standards in the test bay.
• Assist the build area with system assembly and integration during non‑testing periods.
• Support the service team with compressor rebuilds and site visits when required.
• Collaborate with service, design, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure product readiness.

Requirements

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Test Bay Engineer to join our UK HVAC Naval Services team, specialising in the testing and validation of naval refrigeration and chilled water plants. The hands‑on role includes electrical hook‑up, mechanical pipe fitting, noise and vibration testing, commissioning, and ensuring compliance with F‑Gas regulations. When not actively testing, the engineer will support the service and build teams with system assembly, integration, compressor rebuilding and site visits, ensuring performance, safety and regulatory standards are met before deployment to naval platforms.

• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or degree) in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine or Refrigeration Engineering.
• Valid F‑Gas certification (Category I or II).
• Proven experience in electrical hook‑up and mechanical pipe fitting.
• Experience with commissioning and factory acceptance testing (FAT).
• Familiarity with noise and vibration testing techniques and tools.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Good communication and reporting abilities.
• Eligible for UK SC (Security Check) clearance.
• Eligible for UK BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
