As Site Operative, the main purpose of your role will be to control the tipping of waste, controlling traffic and carrying out routine inspections to ensure the site is clean and safe for all users.

  • Liaise with emergency services, regulatory bodies, and assist in the safe disposal of confidential or hazardous waste.
  • Perform traffic control and labouring duties across the site and assist with training or buddying new staff when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company-specific safety procedures at all times.
  • Manage traffic on the tipping apron, maintaining safety and cleanliness by operating mobile plant and performing housekeeping duties.
  • Communicate effectively with the control room, crane operators, and other operational or maintenance teams via two-way radio.
  • Supervise and control waste tipping operations both manually and via control desk, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
  • Conduct waste inspections as per company policy using mobile equipment and complete necessary documentation.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deal tactfully and firmly with others, especially in customer-facing situations.
  • Able to understand and follow on-site procedures and Health & Safety rules; previous training is desirable.
  • Calm, confident, and quick-thinking in emergency or high-pressure situations.
  • Open to ongoing training and development, including customer service and Health & Safety training.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to change duties, cover team absences, and work at other LEL sites as required.
  • Experience in site operations, traffic control, or similar roles is desirable; loading shovel or forklift licences are a plus.
