- Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant.
- Assists in the waste removal operations of sludge and cleaning drying beds or other related activities.
- Maintains records, documentation, and job skills level through appropriate wastewater refresher training to retain South Carolina DHEC "B" or higher Wastewater Biological license and laboratory certification.
- Performs mechanical and incidental electrical service work associated with the repair, removal, or installation of Wastewater Treatment system equipment, performs preventative and predictive maintenance, (including, but not limited to pumps, piping instrumentation, compressors, chemical feed systems, etc.). Notifies the appropriate personnel of needed mechanical/electrical assistance.
- Responsible for the accomplishment of work performed by assigned personnel under the direction and authority of Management.
- Procures specified number of samples of water, sludge, and tests for (including, but not limited to, chemical oxygen demand, biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids test, pH test, ammonia concentrations, microscopic examination of sludge to determine types of bacteria in systems, etc.).
- Responsible for maintaining inventories of parts and equipment in assigned areas. Procures supplies from storeroom or other designated areas.
- Processes plant waste through the wastewater treatment systems and monitors and/or adjusts for specified conditions throughout the system.
- Lead, assists, train and performs the duties of lower levels of wastewater treatment operators under the direction and authority of Management.
- Maintains the hazardous waste storage area. Assists in the preparation and disposal of waste (including, but not limited to, hazardous, non-hazardous, medical, etc.).
- Lead, assists, tram and performs the duties of all levels of waste and water treatment operators.
- Monitors operation of the wastewater treatment plant and the water treatment programs. Interfaces with all plant wastewater users and/or corporate wastewater treatment personnel to coordinate and correct required system deficiencies and improvements.
- Insures completeness of testing of the waste and water treatment systems and insures programmed test are properly performed and parameters are kept within range.
- Performs other environmental functions relative to reporting and maintaining proper permits and licenses as required.
- Assists in compiling data for all environmental reports. Completes records and reports, including, but not limited to completed work, material lists, manuals, worksheets, PM records, tags, inspection card or sheets, downtime, stores requisitions, data plotting, audit sheets, monthly wastewater reports, monthly water readings, air tape sampler, hazardous waste shipping and inspections, or any other as requested by supervisor. Maintains records and documentation as required to retain South Carolina DHEC laboratory certification.

- Operator for the wastewater treatment facility.
- Operates and maintains any tools, equipment, and facilities (including but not limited to, test benches, gauges, jigs, etc.).
- Operates materials handling equipment (including, but not limited to, hand trucks, motorized vehicles, forklifts, etc.). Performs operator inspections of equipment prior to being used, including checking fluid levels and various systems for malfunction, replenishes fuel supply as required.
- Collects data regarding systems operations, analyze data, draws conclusion and takes corrective action.
