Enterprise Architect

Description

In the first 12–18 months the architect will deliver a clear business‑aligned technology roadmap, establish lean architecture guardrails, drive portfolio rationalization, and make measurable progress on cloud modernization, API/microservices and data platforms, while building an engaged architecture community.

• Build a business‑aligned technology strategy and multi‑year roadmap.
• Translate strategy into phased initiatives with defined outcomes, owners, and metrics.
• Conduct scenario planning and trend analysis to guide investment decisions.
• Define minimal viable architecture, principles, reference patterns, and guardrails.
• Establish fast, lightweight, value‑focused governance and decision rights.
• Maintain a living view of current and target state across business, data, application, and technology domains.
• Identify gaps and risks, recommending options with trade‑offs.
• Orchestrate portfolio and modernization, driving rationalization and cloud, data, integration, and security initiatives.
• Ensure delivery teams leverage shared platforms, tools, and patterns for speed‑to‑value.
• Scan emerging technologies, run pilots with clear success criteria, and scale successful solutions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and coach an architecture community.
• Embed security and privacy (“secure by design”) and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Improve resilience through recovery, continuity, and observability.
• Adopt lean principles, standards, and decision rights across key domains.
• Reduce complexity and cost through portfolio rationalization, achieving faster time‑to‑market.
• Track and improve metrics such as reuse rate, release frequency, technical debt, and security posture.
• Develop an engaged architecture community with defined roles, practices, and development paths.

Requirements

• Use visual storytelling to simplify complex topics and illustrate future state.
• Progress on cloud modernization, API/microservices, eventing, and data platform capabilities.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in at least three architecture domains and large‑scale transformation.
• Strong executive communication skills and ability to explain complex topics plainly.
• Financial acumen to build value cases and guide investment decisions.
• Practical governance experience with fast, outcome‑oriented decision forums.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure or AWS, SaaS, APIs, microservices, event‑driven architectures, integration, data/analytics, and DevSecOps.
• Knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance considerations for global enterprises.
• Familiarity with design/engineering and geospatial platforms (e.g., Autodesk, Bentley, ESRI) and enterprise platforms like Oracle.
• Experience with EA frameworks (ArchiMate, TOGAF) and service operations frameworks (ITIL).
• Background in both project‑centric professional services and product‑centric models, including scaled agile environments.
• Experience in information management, lifecycle management, and platform operations.
• Coach and multiplier, growing people and communities of practice.
• Calm under pressure, navigating ambiguity and competing priorities.
