  • Conduct routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment; provide feedback to management and other employees

  • Perform and maintain housekeeping standards and duties
  • Perform station shift operation and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of main plant components and auxiliaries as directed
  • Comply with all site safety requirements and procedures. Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions as necessary
  • Investigate plant issues, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provide analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans
  • Respond to abnormalities and take corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good engineering practice
  • Perform plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices
  • Develop, assist, and revise operations and maintenance related procedures
  • Active participant of the site safety team/committee
  • Represent the company in dealing with the customers, vendors, contractors, regulators, and other non-company personnel under the direction of Management
  • Work scheduled and unscheduled hours and respond to off-hour call-ins
  • Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained
  • Perform operations in accordance with established SOPs and job safety standards
  • Maintain accuracy of shift operating logs in Plantlog, records, timesheets, work orders and other administrative documents related to the plant operations
  • Check daily consumption rates of chemicals, water, and other consumables; monitors inventories and initiates action to replenish when appropriate
  • Talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and constantly reach with hands and arms
  • Perform routine chemistry testing and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency
  • Perform mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Work from or on ladders, lifts, and heights of greater than 20 feet
  • Knowledge of power plant safety, policies, and procedures, especially in area such as chemical handling, high energy systems, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, first aid, rotating machinery, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to complete site specific written qualification program
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Three (3) years of power plant experience in operations and maintenance preferred
  • Experience using computerized work order systems, experience with plant controls systems preferred
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and have a good driving record
  • Knowledge of and experience in the following: pipefitting, rigging, rotating machine repair, machine alignment, basic vibration analysis, and using electrical test equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in Standard Operating Procedures, Pre-Job Briefs, Job Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessments and LOTO
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC & DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermal dynamics, and chemistry preferred
  • Display routine proficiency improvements progressing toward qualifying to a O&M Technician Level 4
  • Frequently sit, stand or walk. Frequently climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or occasionally crawl
  • Ability to read and write effectively in English and to do basic mathematics
  • Knowledge of plant mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, fluid systems, chemical handling, water treatment systems, control systems and associated maintenance functions preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following: operation and maintenance of Chilled Water Systems, Boilers, Compressed Air, Water Treatment, Cooling Towers, HVAC -AHUs. Electrical and Mechanical
  • Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with power plants
  • Vision requirements for this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
