Key duties include producing engineering calculations, analyses, and reports; preparing design inputs for drawings such as site plans, power and lighting layouts, one‑line diagrams, and wiring schedules; and applying electrical expertise to qualify structures, systems, and components.
The role also involves creating procurement and construction specifications, attending project meetings and conducting field walk‑downs, and mentoring less‑experienced engineers.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens eligible for a government security clearance, hold a BSEE or MSEE from an ABET‑accredited program, and have at least seven years of progressive electrical engineering experience, preferably in a nuclear environment.
Required technical experience includes low‑to‑medium voltage distribution and instrumentation wiring design, familiarity with NEC, UL508, and the IES Lighting Handbook, and the ability to learn load‑flow/arc‑flash software (e.g., ETAP, SKM) and lighting analysis tools (e.g., Visual, AGI32).
Preferred qualifications are a Professional Engineer license, DOE or Navy experience, and field engineering or construction background.
