The Digital Director reports functionally to the Vice‑President of Digital Solutions and operationally to the Project Director. This senior leader is tasked with developing and implementing the digital strategy and information‑management framework for a nuclear new‑build project, ensuring that data, documentation and digital systems are integrated, secure and aligned with company standards, regulatory requirements and project objectives.
Strategic leadership involves defining and executing the digital and information‑management strategy, aligning initiatives with project goals, corporate standards and long‑term asset lifecycle needs. The Director champions digital innovation such as BIM, data analytics and advanced collaboration platforms, promoting adoption across all project stakeholders.
A core responsibility is to establish and maintain an Information Management Framework that includes data governance, metadata standards and document‑control processes, while ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements, cybersecurity standards and international best practices such as ISO 19650 and IEC 62645. The role also oversees the implementation of a Common Data Environment for all stakeholders.
The Director selects, implements and manages digital platforms required for engineering design, project controls and asset information, including P6, EcoSys, EDMS and BIM tools. They lead the integrated advanced work‑packaging system with EPC m partners, integrate systems across contractors, OEMs and internal teams, and drive adoption of digital‑twin technology, AR/VR design reviews, AI‑driven analytics and predictive‑maintenance tools.
Ownership of the project‑wide BIM strategy includes defining, implementing and maintaining BIM processes to support design, construction, commissioning and handover. The Director ensures BIM integration across disciplines, develops a digital twin for operational readiness, and enforces BIM execution plans and data standards in line with ISO 19650 and nuclear regulations.
Safety, cybersecurity and data protection are paramount; the Director is accountable for nuclear and industrial safety compliance, training, corrective‑action programs and robust cybersecurity measures that meet nuclear industry regulations and corporate IT policies. They monitor and report on digital strategy implementation, system performance and data integrity, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and cost optimisation.
Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in digital transformation, information management or IT leadership on large infrastructure or energy projects, with strong knowledge of BIM, CDE, EDMS and project‑controls systems. Familiarity with ISO 19650, IEC cybersecurity standards and nuclear regulatory frameworks is required, and experience with 3D engineering design tools (e.g., Hexagon, Aveva) and advanced work‑packaging is preferred. Proven leadership, stakeholder management, communication and change‑management skills, as well as a commitment to safety, quality and team building, are essential.
The position is home‑office based, primarily located west of Toronto, with travel to project sites, suppliers and clients as needed. AtkinsRéalis offers competitive compensation, flexible benefits, hybrid working, professional development opportunities and generous time‑off, supporting employees throughout their careers and personal lives.
