What you would be doing

Reporting directly to the Head of Health & Safety, this role will provide expert guidance, leadership, and support across all project operations—ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and fostering a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide expert health and safety advice, guidance, and training across all business areas, with a particular emphasis on electrical safety.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Health & Safety to ensure best practices are embedded across all sites.
  • Act as a point of contact for health and safety enquiries, both on-site and within the business.
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for staff and subcontractors, emphasizing electrical safety and considerate construction practices.
  • Support and champion compliance with external accreditations such as ISO 45001, CHAS, SafeContractor, and CCS.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and performance monitoring, using internal scoring systems to ensure consistent high standards.
  • Maintain professional relationships with regulatory authorities including the HSE, attending workshops and staying up-to-date with current industry standards.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring thorough reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of lessons learned.
  • Represent Health & Safety at client and internal meetings, chair site safety reviews, and actively contribute to the Health, Safety & Leadership Team (HSLT).
  • Support the development, maintenance, and review of Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across projects, fostering engagement with site teams, subcontractors, and operatives.

We are particularly seeking candidates with a strong background in electrical safety and a proven commitment to the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) principles.

  • Knowledge and experience of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and a commitment to fostering considerate, safe construction environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Competency in IT, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and support the development of others.
  • A deep understanding of electrical safety, with practical experience in risk management and compliance.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A professional and smart appearance, consistently representing the company’s standards.
  • Extensive experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or Senior Advisor role, ideally in construction or engineering projects.
  • Integrity, honesty, and confidence to communicate and challenge at all levels of the business.
