In this role the manager fosters a safe campus environment, oversees security policies, leads training and drills, coordinates with departments and contracted security providers for daily operations, events, and public programming, and balances operational oversight with hands‑on response.
Key duties include engaging the campus community on safety, serving as subject‑matter expert, attending planning meetings, leading training, participating in incident command, communicating with leadership, managing alarms, preparing reports, investigating incidents, tracking KPIs, managing security budgets, maintaining policy awareness, adhering to uniform standards, and covering essential shifts such as overnight or inclement weather.
As a team leader the manager provides clear direction to internal and external security partners, coaches and develops staff, oversees recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and promotes employee engagement, continuous improvement, and professional development.
The Campus Security Manager reports to the Director of Campus Security and Technology, is an exempt position based on-site in Bentonville, Arkansas, with standard business hours plus flexibility for evenings and weekends.
Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 5‑7 years of progressive security experience (preferably in educational, cultural, or event‑venue settings), proven policy development, emergency response, leadership, large‑scale event support, strong judgment, integrity, communication, conflict resolution, budget management, Microsoft Office proficiency, appropriate licensure and certifications, and a valid driver’s license; professional security certifications such as CPP, CIPM, or CSSM are preferred.
The position demands physical abilities including lifting up to 25 lb, sustained computer and phone use, vision requirements, and the ability to perform site inspections in varied indoor and outdoor environments; work may involve exposure to weather, noise, mechanical parts, chemicals, and requires appropriate PPE.
