The role focuses on expanding Dudek’s biological resources practice through aquatic resource delineations and permitting, requiring both office‑based and field work across diverse California environments.
The position involves remote or office settings with standard equipment, occasional site visits in challenging conditions, and physical tasks such as hiking steep slopes, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 35 lb (50 lb team lift).
- Lead planning and execution of aquatic resource delineations and field data collection in remote, varied terrain.
- Prepare and oversee Aquatic Resources Delineation Reports, permit application documents, and CEQA/NEPA evaluations.
- Develop scopes of work and cost estimates; manage projects from inception to completion.
- Mentor and train junior staff, create guides and training materials, and support project teams for efficient field and reporting performance.
- Represent Dudek and clients as subject‑matter expert in agency meetings and public hearings.
- Stay current with regulatory and protocol changes to ensure compliance.

As a Dudekian, you are expected to act with accountability, prioritize safety, collaborate effectively, and think resourcefully and independently. Curiosity, solution‑orientation, and rapid adaptability to change are core traits of the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, botany, environmental science or related field.
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in aquatic delineations using the 1987 USACE Wetland Delineation Manual.
- Expert knowledge of state and federal water quality statutes, permitting requirements, and California aquatic resource systems.
- Proficiency with GPS and ESRI FieldMaps for aquatic resource mapping.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to travel statewide and hold a valid driver’s license with personal auto insurance.
- Preferred: Master’s degree, recognized expert who presents and instructs, knowledge of two‑parameter wetlands, and strong customer‑service orientation.
Benefits
The senior-level Biologist position is located in Southern California (Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside) within Dudek’s Biological practice. This full‑time, hybrid role offers a compensation range of $100,000 to $150,000 annually and can be based out of any of Dudek’s California offices.
