Review of a current motor vehicle report
Operates as a liaison between operating divisions and heavy overhaul shops, monitors the progress and completion of work, inspects repair work before releasing vehicles to service, and recommends measures to improve equipment performance and efficiency of work force.
Administers rules and regulations from the Labor Agreements, the BUS Rule Book, Authority Policies and Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures as well as advises mechanics on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-related issues and engineering modifications to solve problems.
Coordinates with the Material Support Group (MSG) to ensure the effective and economical repair of repairable assets, ensures maintenance programs follow established Washington Metropolitan Area Authority (WMATA) policies and procedures, enforces safety regulations, establishes inspection and preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles assigned to garages, and interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, job orders and updates as-built diagrams for future installation and equipment modification.
Establishes inspection and maintenance training requirements for employees, evaluates progress, and discusses complaints and grievances with employees or their representatives. Recommends and initiates personnel actions and supervises personnel involved in corrective or preventive maintenance
Analyzes and troubleshoots major mechanical failures, completes necessary written and electronic reports and documentation, determines appropriate resolution to technical problems, completes technical administrative tasks associated with the maintenance support function, and determines the need for meetings with vendors, manufacturers, suppliers and management.
Procures parts needed for related work, requisitions materials and tools, and ensures proper use and care.

Minimum four (4) years formal training in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Minimum four (4) years supervisory experience.
Skills and/or behavioral assessment
High school diploma or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED).
Criminal Background Check (a criminal conviction is not an automatic bar to employment)
Possession of, or the ability to obtain and maintain, a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brake and passenger endorsements issued from the jurisdiction of residence.
Demonstrated technical supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
Medical examination including a drug and alcohol screening (for safety sensitive positions)
May be required to obtain certification and perform duties as a Contracting Officers Technical Representative (COTR).
