Project Engineer I

Description

Reporting to the Project Engineering Supervisor, the Project Engineer I manages capital equipment projects from order receipt through shipment and final documentation. The role involves reviewing project requirements, developing design plans, creating and reviewing submittals and manufacturing documents, and coordinating all technical activities to ensure project accuracy, quality, and on‑time completion.

• Organize and control project elements to complete engineering projects.
• Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and consulting with the Project Manager.
• Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Complete technical studies and prepare cost estimates as needed.
• Design and conduct tests to confirm product performance, assisting in design and expediting.
• Calculate time requirements and sequence project elements to determine the project schedule.
• Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, and resolve problems to maintain schedule.
• Review design, specifications, and plan; schedule changes; and recommend actions to control the project plan.
• Review cost implications with the Project Manager to control project costs.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize information to prepare project status reports and recommend actions.
• Create and modify Bills‑of‑Materials in CAD and MER/ERP systems.
• Prepare and update project documentation according to the supplier document list (SDL).
• Act as liaison between departments, suppliers, and customers to address design requirements.
• Review product designs for compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure timely completion of design work meeting specifications.
• Oversee testing and address non‑conforming material (NCM) issues.
• Travel domestically and internationally to meet with customers and suppliers.
• Complete New Employee Safety Training as required.
• Wear Nikkiso‑provided PPE (e.g., safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats) when needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, has at least two years of related experience, and possesses strong skills in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), machine design, and the MS Office suite. Effective time management, prioritization, and communication abilities are essential, and EIT/PE certification is preferred.

All new hires must complete safety training, and ongoing safety modules are provided and tracked by the EHS Manager. Employees are required to wear Nikkiso‑provided personal protective equipment as needed, with non‑compliance subject to disciplinary action. • Professional experience with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
• Knowledge and experience in machine design, preferably engineered‑to‑order.
• Skilled in time management, prioritizing, and managing changing priorities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 + years of related experience.
• EIT/PE certification preferred.
• All safety training is provided and tracked by the EHS Manager.
