This role offers the opportunity to develop robust security frameworks, optimize infrastructure standards, and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to enable automation and reusability. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to assess risk, ensure compliance, and deliver solutions that balance performance, security, and sustainability.
The Specialist, IS Infrastructure Cloud and Security will design and implement secure, scalable solutions across platforms like Azure, Microsoft 365, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring EPCOR’s technology foundation remains resilient and innovative. As a trusted advisor, you’ll lead strategic initiatives that integrate cloud, AI, data, and automation technologies, while embedding security and compliance into every design. Your work will influence EPCOR’s enterprise architecture, aligning emerging technologies with business needs and driving operational excellence.
- Lead strategic and tactical projects to deliver new capabilities in Azure, M365, AWS, and emerging platforms, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Align technology solutions with business needs, leveraging automation and orchestration tools.
- Provide input on budgets and business cases and cost estimates for cloud and security initiatives.
- Implement automation and reusable patterns using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevSecOps principles.
- Assess enterprise health by collaborating with IT stakeholders to evaluate security compliance, risk exposure, and sustainability.
- Design secure and efficient architecture guided by strategic principles, incorporating cloud, AI, data analytics, and container technologies.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics to ensure operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and security guidelines.
- Stay informed about emerging technology trends and evolving cybersecurity threats to guide EPCOR’s technology roadmap.
- Integrate risk and compliance requirements (ISO, NIST, CIS) into all designs and decisions.
- Develop and maintain robust security controls to monitor threats and minimize risks across multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, M365)

- Familiarity with Cloud Well-Architected Frameworks.
- 3+ years supporting hybrid/multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, M365).
- Professional certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computing Sciences, Engineering, or a related field; or a relevant two-year technical diploma from a recognized technical institute.
- Adaptability & Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying informed about emerging technological trends and evolving cybersecurity threats.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and risk integration in cloud environments.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with developers, technical architects, management, and business users.
- Ability to design secure, efficient architectures incorporating AI, data analytics, and container technologies.
- A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada on a permanent full-time basis. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
- Knowledge of Cloud Standards and Guidelines (NIST, ISO-27017, ISO-27018, SOC).
- 10+ years of Information Technology experience, including supporting large-scale IT transformation projects.
- 3+ years working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in an enterprise environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to propose scalable, cost-effective solutions.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align technology solutions with business needs and long-term goals.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevSecOps principles.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and presentation materials for leadership and business users.

Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration platforms beyond IaC.
- Experience with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly
