Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this individual will lead a dedicated in-house facilities team and manage all external vendors and contractors to ensure our property operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with our organization’s standards of excellence. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with a collaborative leadership style and takes pride in creating environments that are secure, well-maintained, and welcoming to all who live and work here.

  • Oversee daily operations of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, elevators, and fire/life safety.
  • Manage all capital improvement and preventive maintenance initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor the Facilities team, fostering accountability and high performance.
  • Support long-term facility planning and budgeting in collaboration with the COO and leadership team.
  • Oversee vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective work.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC and state safety regulations, and partner with leadership to mitigate risk.

We are seeking a seasoned and mission-driven Director of Facilities to oversee all aspects of building operations, maintenance, and safety across a dynamic, hospitality-style residential campus in downtown Brooklyn.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Facilities Management, or a related field; Master’s in Public Administration a plus.
  • Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification preferred.
  • Completion of Fire Safety Director’s Course (F-89) required or attainable upon hire.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in facilities or construction management, ideally within a residential, educational, or hospitality environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and vendor management skills.
