The intern will study user interactions with complex construction data, documenting workflow patterns, pain points, and improvement opportunities. They will contribute to research frameworks, design guidelines, and synthesize data from interviews, observations, and usage patterns into actionable insights. Additional duties include creating user journey maps, workflow diagrams, presentations, and collaborating with design and engineering teams to ensure user needs are incorporated into solutions.
The construction industry is being transformed by AI, automation, and data‑driven insights, yet there are still many opportunities to improve how professionals access and interact with project information. Autodesk Research is looking for a motivated UX Research Intern to support construction technology initiatives and help shape how construction professionals engage with project data and tools. As part of a global team at the intersection of AI, design, and construction technology, the intern will contribute to research that informs Autodesk’s user experiences for the AEC industry.
Candidates should be pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, UX Research, or a related field, and have experience with user research methods such as interviews, usability testing, and contextual inquiry. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools like Figma or Sketch, strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple workstreams independently are required. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with construction or AEC domains, data visualization, front‑end development (React, HTML/CSS, JavaScript), and prior experience with Autodesk products or industry research projects.
The 2026 Canada Internship runs for 16 weeks from early May to late August and is fully paid. Interns receive mentorship from industry leaders, participate in tech talks, and benefit from Autodesk’s flexible workplace policy that supports office, remote, and hybrid arrangements. The program is designed to support personal and professional development while contributing to meaningful projects.
Autodesk’s culture emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and a sense of belonging, enabling employees to create software that underpins greener buildings, cleaner cars, smarter factories, and iconic entertainment.
