The role provides both engineering and technical support to the group while offering administrative leadership to managers or directors. Direct reports include engineers and designers, and the position balances billable client project work with leadership duties such as project leadership, schedule management, employee development, recruiting, and business development activities.
Work is moderately routine, applying general policies with some decision‑making authority. The incumbent influences decisions of moderate significance and must exercise a high degree of tact in external relationships. Supervisory duties include approving timecards and expense reports, aiding in annual reviews, and participating in the interview and recruiting processes.
Candidates must maintain regular attendance and hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. At least six years of practicing engineering experience are required, along with a state professional engineer (PE) registration for Transmission and Substation Engineering supervision. Strong language, mathematical, reasoning, and communication skills are essential for interpreting technical documents and presenting information to customers and colleagues.
The position involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, and regular verbal communication, as well as regular use of hands for tools and controls. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The work environment can be wet or humid, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and a risk of electrical shock.
