The position involves executing complete engineering assignments for small, medium, or large projects while meeting contract specifications and quality standards. Based on customer technical specifications and input from the OU Engineering team, the engineer will develop substation layouts, section drawings, grounding and lightning system designs, cable routing plans, and related documentation such as bills of material and RFQs. Additional duties include vetting vendor offers, estimating engineering hours, visiting project sites, and performing technical risk and opportunity assessments.
Key deliverables include comprehensive engineering for AIS and GIS substations, adhering to international standards such as IEC, IEEE, and AS. The role requires proficiency in substation layout and section drawings, grounding and lightning designs, cable and tray routing, clearance drawings, and auxiliary designs like LVAC/LVDC supplies, battery sizing, and cable sizing. The engineer will also verify primary equipment data sheets, evaluate vendor offers, and oversee FAT/SAT of equipment, while proposing innovative ideas to reduce engineering effort and supporting OPEX initiatives.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s or diploma in Electrical Engineering and has 7‑12 years of relevant experience. Required skills include advanced use of CAD and BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Navisworks, BIM 360), knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards, and experience in substation tendering and project engineering. The role demands independent, proactive work, strong ownership, teamwork across countries, and fluency in spoken and written English.
