Brake Press Operator-2nd Shift

Overview

Operate and set up press brakes to fabricate metal parts on the 2nd shift.

Tasks

-Work from job packets, BOM, process sheet, packing list, assembly instructions, material usage list, blueprints, quality checklist, or drawings. -Change over equipment or tooling to accommodate requirements. Set stops, angles, and dies for defined part dimensions, and configuration. Manually feed material through fabrication operations. -Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. -Maintain a clean and safe work area. Take responsibility for the physical inventory of materials. Request material reorders as necessary. -Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach. -Occasionally push and pull up to 50 lbs. -Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements. -Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. -Stage completed parts for movement or move to subsequent operations to maintain workflow. -Perform quality checks, complete check lists, verify counts, record time per job and ensure compliance with production schedules. -Develop layout and plan sequence of operations. Calculate angles and bend thicknesses, and other critical elements to determine appropriate dies, fixtures, stops and settings. Set up fabrication equipment (press brakes). Verify conformance of first piece to specifications, using protractor, gauges, and measuring tape. Gauge work pieces randomly through run to ensure maintenance of settings and make adjustments as necessary.
