Fire Protection Inspections Technician - all experience levels

Description

• Inspection and testing of fire pumps including annual full-flow functional testing.
• Inspection and testing of wet pipe fire sprinkler systems.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
• Inspection and testing of fire extinguishers.
• Completion of the NFPA report forms associated with the various systems being inspected using a handheld mobile device.
• Inspection and testing of fire alarm and detection systems.
• Inspection and testing of "special" fire sprinkler systems such as pre-action, dry pipe, and foam. This will include "trip" testing and re-setting of special system valves and associated devices.

Requirements

• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Experience in Fire Protection/Life Safety industry preferred.
• All candidates offered a position must successfully pass pre-employment drug and background screens.
• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload.
• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License and clean Department of Motor Vehicles report.
• NICET Certification preferred.
• Must have all required hand tools.
• Knowledge of functions associated with testing of fire alarms, access control, and security systems preferred.
• Thoroughly capable of reading, interpreting, and applying NFPA Code to inspection testing and maintenance of fire protection equipment.
• Must have the ability to work on ladders and lift equipment.
• Experience with fire detection systems including VESDA, FM200 and other gas extinguishing systems preferred.
