The Survey Crew Chief provides technical expertise to internal and external clients, performs field work for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA surveys, and topography, organizes field staking materials, operates GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors, transfers files to project folders, and communicates project status, daily progress, and issues to office teams.
The role requires physical mobility on construction sites, the ability to carry and transport survey equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, walk long distances, and work outdoors in varying weather, insects, and changing environments.
Candidates must be able to lead and mentor a survey crew, operate total stations and GPS in both static and RTK modes, hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history, possess or be willing to acquire OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certification, work independently, and have basic office suite computer skills.
Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related field, coordination with office personnel and engineering staff, and an FAA Part 107 UAS License.
