Reporting the VP of Data and Insights, this role combines technical expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder management to ensure the delivery of accurate, high-quality, and simulation-ready datasets within PLEXOS, aligned with customer needs and evolving market dynamics.
The Head of Data – EMEA will lead a regional team of data and modelling professionals responsible for developing and enhancing Energy Exemplar’s European datasets across electricity, gas, hydrogen, and emerging energy markets.
The Head of Data – EMEA will drive cross-functional collaboration with product, and go-to-market teams to align data initiatives with strategic business objectives and global standards. They will also provide visionary leadership, fostering a high-performance culture that promotes innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring Energy Exemplar’s data assets remain reliable, consistent, and future-focused, supporting informed decision-making across the energy sector.
- Contribute to the global data strategy, aligning regional initiatives with company-wide objectives.
- Stay informed of market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies impacting energy data.
- Identify opportunities to expand and improve dataset offerings in response to evolving customer and market demands.
- Represent Energy Exemplar at industry events, contributing to thought leadership in data and modelling excellence.
- Incorporate new PLEXOS Platform features into the datasets, and support the ongoing development of new Insights and Playbook Products
- Support business development teams with data-related input for customer demonstrations, proposals, and webinars.
- Set strategic direction and priorities for dataset development and maintenance within the EMEA region.
- Oversee the creation and calibration of simulation-ready datasets in PLEXOS, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and market relevance.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand use cases, client requirements and data requirements and deliver data product roadmaps and product updates that support their modelling and forecasting needs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data specialists, analysts, and subject matter experts across gas, electricity, and power.
- Guide the development and enhancement of gas and electricity models, with a particular focus on natural gas, hydrogen, and low-carbon technologies.
- Ensure robust data validation and quality control processes are in place, and introduce more AI/ML based methodologies to improve efficiency.
- Work on projects that directly contribute to the global energy transition.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across the data team.

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a customer-centric mindset.
- Experience with European short- and medium-term energy trading markets
- Proven experience leading data, modelling, or analytics teams within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of European energy markets, particularly gas, power, and emerging hydrogen sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in energy market modelling, ideally using PLEXOS or similar tools.
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Energy Systems, or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Familiarity with market fundamentals (supply/demand balance, price formation, etc.).
- Strategic thinking, coupled with hands-on data quality and operational management capabilities.
