The Configuration Control Specialist reports to the Sr. Manager, Planning & Configuration and is tasked with implementing configuration management disciplines across multiple projects to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established procedures. This role involves creating and maintaining material master data and bills of materials (BOMs) in the LN Infor ERP system, examining project requirements, and developing structured BOM hierarchies that support manufacturing processes. The specialist also prepares data for entry into the Item Master using PLM, designs new inventory items, and ensures all item attributes are accurate and up‑to‑date.
In addition to managing item master records, the specialist processes released engineering documentation, coordinates engineering change orders (ECOs) with shop and planned orders, and adjusts effective dates as needed to keep production documentation current. Responsibilities include maintaining master routing schedules, communicating processes and procedures, and overseeing change implementation through to production. The role requires strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, and solid knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain principles.
The position requires at least an Associate degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent military or technical experience. Minimum qualifications include three years of experience with ERP/MRP systems, three years creating BOMs, and three years in a formal configuration management role. Preferred qualifications add a Bachelor’s degree, seven or more years in product development or manufacturing, five or more years in configuration management, and experience with PDM tools like SolidWorks, LN Infor, and BIM/Revit.
Physical demands consist primarily of desk work (80‑95% of the time) with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and repetitive motions such as typing and using a computer. Visual acuity for color, depth perception, and detailed data analysis is required, and the work environment is indoor with standard office conditions.
