• Collaborate with engineers and design leads to communicate with clients, deliver construction documents, and support construction administration.
• Independently develop and draft construction documents while solving medium to difficult design challenges.
• Utilize national standards and energy codes to guide simple projects with minimal oversight.
• Design and draft refrigeration systems, creating isometric plans for small to medium projects.
• Work collaboratively with architects and engineers to produce construction documents and perform project management and quality control tasks.
• Provide high‑level quality control and prepare projects for final review by engineers or design leads.
• Maintain direct client contact and travel to project sites as required.
• Manage project budgets and contribute to the financial success of projects.
• Select and design refrigeration equipment and controls, performing box and case load calculations with minimal supervision.
• Edit specifications for small to medium projects.
• Manage up to three staff members.

Requirements

This experienced position is based in Bentonville, AR and falls within the retail category. The Designer will partner with engineers and design leads to communicate with clients, deliver complete construction documents, and assist in construction administration across various project types. Responsibilities include independently developing and drafting construction documents, solving medium to difficult design challenges, and designing refrigeration systems with isometric plans for small to medium projects. The role also requires proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit, knowledge of DX and CO₂ refrigeration systems, control systems, national standards, and energy codes.

Candidates should hold a BSME or equivalent experience, may manage up to three staff members, and no professional licensure is required. The role demands a good working knowledge of DX refrigeration, transcritical CO₂ systems, and basic familiarity with 2‑stage, cascade, and ammonia systems, as well as standard commercial refrigeration controls.

• Apply knowledge of DX refrigeration, traditional refrigerants, transcritical CO₂, and optionally 2‑stage, cascade, and ammonia systems.
• Maintain basic understanding of commercial refrigeration control systems.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit; train new staff on standards, drafting techniques, and technical design queries.
• Require BSME degree or equivalent experience; no licensure required.
