Coordinates with manufacturing, sales, customer services and production scheduling in scheduling, routing, and shipping finished goods by common carriers.
Maintains finished product storage areas and advises sales of any surplus or slow-moving materials.
Work as an effective member of the Shipping team and be able to perform all responsibilities of the Shipping position
Maintains and periodically reviews routing policy.
Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.
Assist in taking physical inventories, as required.
Inspects in-coming/out-going finished goods for quality, quantity, and condition.
Audits all prepaid freight bills.
Reviews and negotiates rates with common carriers.
Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
Directs preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement.
Train shipping employees to work effectively
Records truck rates and charges on all customer orders.
Schedules common carriers and rail shipments and directs common carrier personnel while they are on company property to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Develops departmental cost improvement programs.
