Laboratory Assistant I

Description

• Prepare media and reagents according to the schedule or management request.
• Stock laboratory materials such as glassware, carriers, Petri dishes, forceps and other supplies as needed.
• Decontaminate, wash, clean and sterilize laboratory glassware and supplies promptly.
• Document raw data accurately to maintain scientific integrity.
• Monitor and maintain stock of chemicals, media, reagents and set up testing supplies.
• Perform quality control on media and reagents using aseptic techniques.
• Remove expired raw materials and prepared supplies in a timely manner.
• Assist with routine cleaning and decontamination of laboratory equipment.
• Maintain up‑to‑date training records.
• Support implementation of quality control and quality assurance practices.
• Review and stay current with new standard operating procedures, technical data sheets and forms.
• Respond to internal and external email requests as needed.
• Log projects and test substances, creating accountability records for test substances.
• Assist client relations with receiving test substances and other management‑requested tasks.
• Adapt standard laboratory techniques to address specific problem demands.

Requirements

• Possess general knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment and terminology.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Stand and walk in the lab for several hours daily; thrive in a fast‑paced, organized environment.
