You will be accountable for project delivery, budgets, resourcing, planning and programming, while also preparing technical outputs, coordinating with other disciplines and representing the business both internally and externally. The position involves leading projects, developing client relationships and playing a key role in the growth of the team and overall business performance.
Key duties include financial, technical and project‑management control of civil‑engineering works, delegating and supervising engineers and technicians, and ensuring drainage designs meet standards such as Sewers for Adoption, DMRB and local design guides. You will produce technical packages, coordinate micro‑drainage and Auto‑CAD models, liaise with project teams and construction professionals, prepare drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports, and take commercial responsibility for successful project delivery.
We are looking for a Senior/Principal Engineer with a strong background in highways and development infrastructure to join our growing drainage team. The role supports and deputises for the Drainage Associate Director, contributing to the acquisition and delivery of projects safely, efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will work on development infrastructure schemes from feasibility through detailed design, including drainage design, flood‑risk assessments and statutory approvals.
The ideal candidate has proven civil‑engineering consultancy experience, strong knowledge of surface and waste‑water drainage design, and proficiency with Auto‑CAD, Micro‑drainage and Info‑drainage tools. Experience of project management, commercial responsibility, health‑and‑safety (including CDM), and effective client communication are essential. Desirable attributes include highway‑design experience, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a proactive, adaptable mindset.
