The mechanic assembles mechanical units and fabricated parts of varying size and complexity using hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and light power equipment. They follow oral instructions, drawings, bills of material, and written procedures, fitting, aligning, adjusting, and calibrating components to meet tolerances and operating requirements. They also test assembled parts, repair units that fail performance standards, and disassemble and inspect sub‑assemblies.
