  • Provide other HSE support as directed by the North America HSE Director.
  • Coach site teams to conduct and document meaningful Safety Conversations.
  • Assist in the development and review of high-quality risk assessments for both internal teams and contractors.
  • Offer expert support on HSE system documentation, including permits, signage, barricading, and contractor management procedures.
  • Actively participate in daily site planning and pre-start meetings to embed HSE requirements into operational activities.
  • Provide practical, on-the-ground coaching to ensure compliance with Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out, Risk Assessment, Job Hazard Analysis, and Life-Saving Rules.
  • Conduct Hazard Hunts and assist with recording and follow-up using internal systems.
  • Support the site in closing out safety actions and uploading evidence into internal systems.
  • Join monthly plant safety and operations meetings, contributing to continuous safety improvement.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and awareness sessions focused on critical safety procedures.
  • Review and audit high-risk work permits (e.g., Hot Work, Confined Space, Working at Heights) and support site teams in closing compliance gaps.
  • Mentor permit issuers and holders to foster ownership and accountability within safety processes.
  • Promote accurate and timely incident and hazard reporting and assist with investigations and corrective action planning.
  • Lead or support internal HSE audits and ensure actions are logged and tracked.
  • Verify site training compliance and assist with closing training gaps for employees, contractors, and visitors.

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support our growing operations across North America. This role plays a critical part in promoting a Zero Harm culture and ensuring safety standards are upheld across multiple energy generation sites, including Combined Cycle (Turbine) facilities in Rhode Island and California, as well as Reciprocating Engine LFG sites.

Must be open to travelling up to 1 week a month

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in incident investigations using root cause methodologies.
  • Familiarity with key HSE processes like Permit to Work, Lock Out Tag Out, contractor management, and emergency response.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, and support teams through change and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (monthly visits to Brea, California site required).
  • Solid understanding of OSHA standards, industry best practices, and risk management frameworks.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently while managing competing priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license (required).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (or actively working towards completion).
  • 5+ years of site-based experience in an HSE role, preferably in the energy, oil & gas, or high-risk industrial sectors.
  • Professional HSE accreditation (or in progress) such as ASP, CSP, or CHST is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships on-site.
