Civil Construction Inspector- Water Projects

Description

• Inspect water and wastewater construction activities, including mains, pump stations, lift stations, manholes, valves, hydrants, and testing procedures.
• Verify work complies with approved plans, specifications, codes, and contract documents.
• Observe and document materials, pressure, leakage, disinfection, and commissioning tests.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, pay quantity documentation, and photographic records.
• Coordinate with contractors, project engineers, and municipal representatives to resolve field issues.
• Identify constructability or quality concerns and promptly communicate findings to the project team.
• Monitor construction schedules and report progress and delays.
• Assist in preparing pay applications, change orders, and project closeout documentation.
• Promote jobsite safety and report unsafe conditions.
• Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.

Requirements

The position is primarily field‑based, requiring exposure to outdoor weather and active construction sites. Inspectors must stand, walk, and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods and may work occasional evenings or early mornings to meet schedule demands.

• Possess 3–5 years of construction inspection experience on water and wastewater projects.
• Demonstrate knowledge of municipal water/wastewater construction standards, trenching, shoring, dewatering, utility installation, and testing procedures.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic inspection/reporting tools.
• Hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to project sites.
• Preferred: NICET Level II certification, ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician (Grade I), state DOT or municipal inspection certifications, OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, effective communication, independent field work, professional judgment, and familiarity with public‑works standards.
