Commercial Manager

Description

As Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial strategy, financial governance, and risk management for the program. You will lead a team of contract administrators and quantity surveyors, ensuring best-practice contract management, cost control, and client engagement across all delivery phases.

• Mentor and develop the commercial team to promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
• Prepare, assess, and negotiate variations, claims, and extensions of time in line with contractual requirements.
• Lead project cost reporting, forecasting, and cashflow management to support program financial performance.
• Drive accuracy and transparency in monthly cost reporting, valuations, and performance metrics.
• Oversee all commercial functions across design and construction packages, ensuring compliance with head contract and subcontract terms.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Work with a Tier 1 contractor known for innovation, collaboration, and safety leadership.

Requirements

You are a commercially astute leader with deep experience in infrastructure delivery and a strong understanding of NEC, GC21, or similar collaborative contract frameworks. You thrive in fast-paced, complex environments and bring a strategic mindset to cost, risk, and contractual management.

• 10+ years’ experience in commercial management within major infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated success working under alliance, D&C, or program delivery models.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams across large-scale civil, utilities, or water projects.
