- Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges and deliver large highly complex computationally intensive projects quickly to a very high standard, applying innovative thinking where relevant.
- Preferably registered with the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards this.
- Understanding of the issues impacting SPEN from regulatory / system / operational perspective.
- Knowledge of network design philosophy and policies, asset management techniques and practices.
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline or HND with suitable experience
- Strong background in data handling and processing to obtain useful insights and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to manage innovative data projects whilst working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- History of systems engineering and model development, with the ability to write and develop functionality for varying user stories.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate a complex range of technical, regulatory, commercial, and environmental factors in proposing innovative network developments that are efficient, co-ordinated, and economic.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across SPEN and with customers, with the ability to convey technical concepts to different audiences verbally and in writing.
- Extensive understanding of distribution and transmission network design across the UK and internationally.
