You will join the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account delivering facilities management services for prisons, helping to keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running safely, cleanly and efficiently. Amey supports the His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by applying its FM expertise to create a positive impact nationwide.
- Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
- Provide professional assistance service to those requesting support, including contractor escorting duties when required.
- Complete DIY tasks such as decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, and repairing items around the prison.
- Check appliances, fittings and the general environment are in good working order and report defects to the Team Leader.
- Perform general housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds as needed.
- Carry out all other FM duties as directed by the team manager.

- CITB relevant certification or equivalent, or an NVQ trade qualification.
- Solid experience in DIY/general building maintenance.

Benefits
We are offering a permanent General Building Operative role at HMP Humber, Sands Lane, Brough (HU15 2JZ). The standard schedule is 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00‑17:00 and Friday to Sunday 08:00‑16:00, with a 1‑in‑3 weekend rota that includes a 15% allowance on basic salary.
