Leadership: Provide leadership for the NPI activities within S&OP including select sources taken from category strategies & matrices and resource management decisions. Demonstrate leadership in recognizing the potential for cost and inventory reductions and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for the soundness of business proposals and risk assessment. Promote the highest level of professionalism and business ethics.
Accountability: Understanding product & component strategies, S&OP strategies, corporate NPI process and the business processes necessary to deliver NPI Program commitments. Responsible for the forecasting and management of procurement-related capital and expense items (supplier tooling and packaging), NPI target setting and conformance, and S&OP’s participation in design programs.
The Product Supply NPI Professional works with Product & Component Groups to develop and implement Cost, Quality, and Response Time targets for system teams, and monitors and provides upward and lateral feedback on performance to these targets.

Procurement: Experience in procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
Working knowledge of WebPD, Item Scout, NPI Process and process mapping tools.
Knowledge of engineering bill of material structure and parts authorization process.
Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience, and skills into real practice.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Experience in managing multiple programs and projects at once and following up to ensure closure.
Strategy: Tools and Techniques of 6 Sigma will be required and may be attained by Black Belt, Green Belt, Project Sponsor, or other 6 Sigma-related training programs.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of software applications such as Power Automate, SharePoint and PowerBI or the proven ability to learn new applications. Develop, capture and sustain KPI’ s for the NPI Supply Chain Team.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles as applied by Caterpillar and our suppliers.
