While performing the duties of this job, the employee will largely perform duties in an office setting using a computer setup, including monitor, mouse, keyboard, camera/headset, and telephone.

During the course of their duties, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend or crouch; talk and hear.

Inspire and build talent through managing performance, coaching, mentoring, delegating, and developing a collaborative, high-performing staff of individual contributors and collaborative teammates.
Develop and implement innovative shareholder communications and outreach strategies using cutting-edge technology and methods that inspire trust and cultivate forthright, honest, and transparent relationships with shareholder communities.
Assists with recruiting, interviews, hires, and training new staff.
Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of the annual report, newsletters, press releases, outreach campaigns, election materials and other deliverables.
Travel regularly to shareholder communities to promote Sealaska’s initiatives and deepen the company’s relationship with its Native ownership.
Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
Manage change and (often) competing priorities with patience, confidence, and a hands-on, whatever-it-takes approach, working alongside team members.
Gather/analyze data to develop targeted approaches, measure outcomes and adapt.
Develop and manage the departmental operating and capital budget.
Invite staff to input and leverage their creativity, innovative ideas, enthusiasm, and potential to make meaningful impact. Encourage open conversation and constructive disagreement.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to adapt to new software as required.
At least 5 years of management experience.
Willing to work flexible hours as needed to support shareholder meetings and events.
Ability to regularly lift and maneuver items up to 40 pounds.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field required.
Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, oversee cross-functional teams and meet deadlines.
Strong preference given to Sealaska shareholders or shareholder descendants.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building productive partnerships with shareholders, community organizations and internal/external stakeholders.
Ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences in an easily understandable way.
