Core responsibilities include engineering and design of aerial, buried, and conduit facilities; preparing drawings and calculations; conducting field measurements; managing project budgets and quality inspections; preparing permit packages; coordinating with municipal officials and other utilities; updating CAD and asset‑tracking tools; and supporting contractors, make‑ready work, site surveys, and plant‑damage resolution.
- Design and plan OSP copper and fiber facilities (aerial, buried, conduit).
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, loop loss calculations, and switch serving area designs.
- Conduct field measurements of poles, conduits, and buried utilities.
- Develop project budgets, monitor actual costs, and perform quality inspections.
- Prepare, organize, and submit permit packages to municipal, county, state, DNR, railroad, and pipeline agencies.
- Coordinate with municipal officials and utility companies to avoid project delays.
- Update CAD (FROGS), Varasset, and SiteTracker tools as required.
- Coordinate SSP contractors to ensure timely, budget‑conscious project completion.
- Assist with make‑ready work, joint‑use coordination, and site surveys for Ziply‑owned poles.
- Investigate PUC complaints and create capital projects for cell towers or plant repairs.
- Resolve plant damage requests, cable count changes, and other network service needs.
- Maintain engineering records, update files, and draft correspondence, reports, and support documents.

We are seeking a detail‑oriented OSP Engineer to design, plan, and implement outside‑plant projects involving copper and fiber networks. The role requires strong engineering, permitting, and construction coordination skills, as well as budget management and compliance with company and industry standards.
Ideal candidates have 3‑5+ years of hands‑on copper and fiber OSP engineering experience, at least five years in network engineering, strong project management and communication abilities, and proficiency with Ziply tools such as FROGS, Varasset, and SiteTracker. Travel within the local area is required, and candidates located in the PST zone are preferred, with MST candidates also considered.
- 3‑5+ years hands‑on experience in copper and fiber OSP engineering.
- Minimum 5 years in network engineering or OSP‑related work, including permitting and fiber record management.
- Strong project management, organizational, and multi‑project handling skills.
- Proficient with Ziply engineering tools: FROGS, Varasset, and SiteTracker.
- Effective communication and collaboration with municipal officials, utilities, contractors, and cross‑functional teams.
- Willingness to travel locally for fieldwork and meetings (mileage reimbursed).
