The role offers the chance to support the Design Team Leader on a variety of structures schemes, lead projects, and mentor junior engineers and technicians. You will manage a small, single‑discipline technical team, liaise with clients and suppliers, contribute to bids, and champion health and safety within the team.
- Lead a team and deliver technically sound engineering solutions
- Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation to meet quality, cost and programme criteria
- Oversee junior staff performing similar tasks and take responsibility for their work
- Support professional development of junior staff as a Delegated Engineer
- Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings and respond to queries
- Manage a small, locally based, single‑discipline technical team and ensure delivery of their workload
- Contribute to bid preparation and work‑winning activities
- Promote effective health and safety practices within the team
- Ownership of preparation and checking of deliverables to a reasonable standard

- Own projects from quotation through to handover
- Significant experience and expertise in the structures field, typically gained in an engineering role
- Ability to produce or oversee technically sound solutions in line with standards and client requirements
- Proficient with relevant software such as LUSAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good understanding of CDM regulations and risk assessment, with experience managing hazards and risks
- Awareness of interface management to align deliverables across disciplines
- Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IStructE (or equivalent professional licence) desirable
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent learning
