As a member of the Fire Operations team, you will protect lives and property through fire prevention, education, suppression, and emergency response, and you may also serve as a Firefighter Dispatcher in the Emergency Communications Centre. Shift work, including weekends and statutory holidays, is required.
- Perform fire prevention and inspection duties in the assigned area.
- Teach basic fire prevention and life safety techniques at schools and public venues.
- Participate in public‑relations projects, including visits, demonstrations, and community events.
- Carry out fire suppression duties to save life and property, rapidly responding under emergency conditions.
- Provide emergency medical response and perform rescue/extrication operations as needed.
- Conduct rescue duties for motor‑vehicle collisions and hazardous‑materials incidents, including victim extrication.
- Maintain fire service apparatus, equipment, and departmental property.
- Attend training classes and study materials related to firefighting, rescue, EMS, and hazardous materials.
- Maintain required certifications for all assigned duties.
- Perform duties in the Emergency Communications Centre as assigned.
- Provide IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1001 Level I & II certification.
- Provide a valid driver’s licence with air‑brake endorsement (Class 3A preferred) and copies of both sides.
- Provide a current criminal record check (no older than three months).
- Identify and communicate mental‑health concerns; participate in counseling sessions as needed.
