Description

The role involves overseeing subcontractors, partnering with superintendents to solve constructability issues, developing scope and schedules, ensuring safety, quality, and site cleanliness, and maintaining clear communication with clients, inspectors, and owners while handling documentation, proposals, and budgets. Travel within the assigned city or territory is also required.

• Oversee daily subcontractor operations to ensure safe, successful project completion.
• Collaborate with superintendents to resolve constructability issues during pre‑construction.
• Participate in scope development, buy‑out, and schedule finalization.
• Manage project strategy, finances, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
• Supervise field operations, ensuring safety, quality control, progress, and site cleanliness.
• Maintain an accurate project schedule reflecting status changes and cost/time requirements.
• Communicate openly with the team about changes, conditions, and project direction.
• Foster positive subcontractor and vendor relations through professional, fair dealings.
• Oversee the punch‑list process to ensure timely resolution.
• Provide excellent customer service to the public, inspectors, and owners.
• Lead and delegate tasks to workers, subcontractors, and lower‑level managers.
• Convey clear instructions and simplify complex information for team members.
• Manage time effectively to meet construction deadlines and maintain project flow.
• Prepare proposals, budget plans, and project documentation for clients.
• Interpret construction methods, contracts, and drawings.

Requirements

Knight Commercial seeks an experienced Commercial Construction Project Director with at least five years of commercial construction and estimating experience, focusing on hospitality, multifamily, and industrial projects and managing multiple teams.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of meeting deadlines, strong leadership and negotiation skills, extensive safety knowledge, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency with construction software. Experience in commercial roofing and bilingual abilities are considered pluses.

• Travel locally within the assigned city/territory as required.
• Minimum 5 years commercial construction experience, including hospitality, multifamily, and industrial projects.
• Proven construction estimating experience and ability to read plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting project deadlines.
• Extensive knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.
• Proficiency with construction software tools.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Commercial roofing experience (preferred).
• Bilingual ability (preferred).
