Project Manager, Sustainability & Resiliency TB&T

Description

The Project Manager for Sustainability & Resiliency will play a key role in leading the planning, engineering, procurement, and delivery of projects aimed at reducing environmental impact and strengthening the resilience of critical transportation infrastructure. This role will directly support initiatives across six vehicular crossings and two bus facilities, ensuring alignment with the agency’s Net Zero goals and climate-readiness strategies.

The selected professional will collaborate with a wide range of interdisciplinary units, stakeholders, and external partners to manage complex projects from concept through execution. • Collaborate with the Sustainability & Resiliency Strategies Team and the Asset Management Division to deliver projects aligned with agency missions and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, business partners, and stakeholders to advance project development and delivery.
• Lead and manage sustainability and resiliency projects from concept to completion.
• Support agency-wide annual GHG emissions reporting requirements.
• Prepare performance reports and analyses to guide short- and long-term sustainability strategies.
• Support strategic partnerships that advance sustainability and resiliency priorities.
• Participate in agency-wide steering committees, task forces, and working groups as needed.
• Serve as a proactive team member capable of managing additional projects and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
• Prepare, update, and maintain project management tools, dashboards, and reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Oversee initiatives related to environmental stewardship, climate readiness, fleet electrification, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and mitigation of climate risks (e.g., flooding, sea-level rise, extreme heat).
• Develop and maintain systems to collect, analyze, and report on Net Zero progress, including GHG emissions reduction, energy usage, and waste diversion.
• Assist with utility analysis, payments, and annual budgeting.

• Familiarity with monitoring, reporting, or forecasting greenhouse gas emissions and utility usage.
• Experience with climate-related risk mitigation, sustainable infrastructure, or energy-efficiency programs.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, ENV SP, or related credentials.
• Experience with public sector, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure agencies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to learn Port Authority systems, and a valid driver’s license.
• Engagement in high-profile, long-term infrastructure and sustainability projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Sustainability, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Civil/Transportation Engineering, or Architecture.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience presenting to large and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Minimum of five years of project management experience in transportation, infrastructure, sustainability, or resiliency, with the ability to manage complex projects, lead teams, and apply key project development principles.
