You will apply your expertise in materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design to projects involving new nuclear facilities as well as upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants.
Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing design calculations, developing specifications, and supporting designers with drawing development. Using state‑of‑the‑art computer tools, you will perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations, including wind and seismic loading cases. The role may require travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.
Joining the Nuclear Power Group means contributing to clean, carbon‑free energy initiatives, from small modular reactors and advanced reactor technology to plant life extensions, digital modernization, and international new‑build projects, all within a safety‑focused and innovative environment.
Essential qualifications are a BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET‑accredited program, five or more years of experience on structural design and analysis teams, and proficiency with analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS. Familiarity with design codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI), strong MS Office skills, and good written and verbal communication are also required.
Preferred, but not required, credentials include an MSCE degree, experience with power‑plant or industrial structures, on‑site construction support experience, and a professional PE or SE license.
This senior engineering role provides diverse and challenging opportunities in structural engineering while offering a clear path for career advancement. The position is based onsite at the Surry Nuclear Generating Station, where you will work alongside a team of structural engineers, interface with other engineering disciplines, and mentor less‑experienced project team members.

The compensation range for this position is $82,380 to $125,860, with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus and a transparent total compensation package.
