  • Complete and manage documentation, including work orders, parts tracking, and status reports.
  • Potentially serve as an instructor on standard and non-standard small arms weapon systems.
  • Manage relationships with supporting Units to foster a positive work environment and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure all firearms meet safety and performance standards.
  • Oversee a team of lower-level gunsmiths, manage maintenance schedules, and ensure workload efficiency.
  • Repair and replace weapon system components such as springs, triggers, firing pins, and barrels.
  • Maintain proper workstations, tools, key control, and bench stock inventories.
  • This position is responsible for conducting field and limited sustainment-level maintenance on a variety of military small arms, including carbines, pistols, and machine guns.
  • Make precision timing adjustments, perform operational checks, and test-fire weapons as needed for accuracy and safety.
  • Actively manage safety, quality, and efficiency for all assigned tasks.

  • Working knowledge (proficient) of Microsoft Office 365(Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of small arms.
  • Have a thorough understanding of firearm operation principles, has a moderate knowledge of internal/external ballistic theories.
  • Attendance at a formal one-to-two-year accredited in-house gun-smithing course or 2-3 years of Gun Smith II experience.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and finding solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possess a deeper knowledge of gunsmithing.
  • Must possess and continuously maintain a current state driver's license.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the US Technical manuals (TMs).
  • Experience with GCSS-Army.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC.
  • In addition to performing all functions of a Level I and Level II Gunsmith, the Gunsmith Level II position typically requires attendance to a factory Armorer's course with a focus on small arms.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Army procedures and logistics information system.
  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent legal resident with oral and written fluency in the English language.
  • Ideal candidate will have completed prerequisite training for Army Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91F2O/3O - Small Arms/Artillery Repair.
  • Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift, push, pull, a minimum of 40 pounds, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of gunsmithing tools and procedures and possess moderate knowledge of firearms operating principles and ballistics.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
