Position Purpose: Working closely with the Engineering Manager, acting as Project Manager or technical lead on various projects and meeting production requirements of the projects. Provides exceptional customer service and coordination assistance with internal and external project partners (consultants, contractors, etc.). Should the candidate exhibit strong leadership roles, there is an opportunity for leadership of the Edmonton Building Science team.
- Identify risks associated with a project at the proposal stage; satisfy client and our requirements with regard to risk management.

- Under supervision, prepare engineering cost proposals.
- Provide technical expertise on projects. Project experience that would be an asset includes:
- Stamp own project design and reports and that of engineers in training for whom you are providing peer review as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager; this includes collecting and coordinating useful information.
- Work with the Team lead/ Project Manager/ Engineering Manager in providing our clients with finished projects in a timely manner.
- Maintain technical skills on a variety of project types as identified above.
- Act as a mentor/coach to teammates. Provide guidance and leadership to junior teammates, this includes reviewing reports and ensuring technical standards are met.
- Teammates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.
- Ability to represent the company to the WE teammates, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
- Act as client contact.
- Assist in the updating of corporate standards, devise new innovative approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions for comparative situations as appropriate.
- New construction design review and quality assurance during construction for commercial and residential projects.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving quality control.

- Able to operate independently and oversee work plans and procedures on projects.
- Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
- Ability to identify risks – to satisfy client and WE requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Understand building codes, model national energy code, ASTM standards, CGSB standards, CSA standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
- Capability in review and design standards of a variety of the following:
- Teammates in a leadership position are expected to obtain their Leadership in Safety Excellence certificate as part of their role with WE
- P.Eng. status with appropriate provincial association
- Have the ability to apply for a Federal security clearance in order to work on institutional projects as required.
- 7 – 15 years of experience minimum
- Communicate effectively with team members.
- Ability to coordinate with all service lines, extract and relay relevant information for complex problems.
- Application knowledge of WE systems and programs (including MS Office 365, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, discipline specific drafting/design software, etc.)
- Must have valid class 5 drivers license
